Gevalia Coffee, Cream Of The Coffee Crop

In 1853, Sweden, Victor Theodor Engwall founded a company he dedicated to scouring the world for coffee varieties that had yet to be discovered. He then planned to market these new types of coffee to Europeans who were all crazy for coffee at that time.

Around the early 19th century, coffee had become a very popular drink in Sweden. Engwall was further encouraged to bring to his countrymen the most excellent coffees the world had to offer. He also dabbled in ways of producing the perfect cup of coffee. He would experiment with a combination of different coffee beans, roasting and grinding the beans in different ways.

The Royal Coffee Maker

King Gustav of Sweden soon heard of this man who made heavenly coffee and soon Engwall and his company, Gevalia coffee was appointed coffee purveyor to the Royal family and the Royal Court of Sweden. Gevalia Coffee is the most loved coffee of Sweden and Swedish royalty have long given their seal of approval for this coffee.

In 1971, the Gevalia Coffee Company was sold to Kraft Foods. It has become a mainstream coffee brand in Europe and in the United States; it is usually sold with free coffee makers via mail order. These coffee makers are incentives for trying out the different Gevalia coffee available.
